Alas, the end has come for the Mac Donald Family Newsletter. I have been publishing these on a quarterly basis since 1986. That's 57 issues
,the last 10 years on-line. Thanks to many genealogical resources i.e. census records, city directories parish records, birth and death records, naturalization records, etc and above all, for your help, I have amassed in my Family Tree Maker files:
7571 Individuals
2160 Marriages
15 Generations
and
1353 Surnames
The average life span of our ancestors is 62 years with the earliest being born in 1718.
I have far exceeded the average life span of our ancestors. I am 82 years old and in good health (well almost, I do have to drink that senior wine Pee No More).
After 40 years of "rooting" for our ancestors and teaching genealogy classes in local community colleges, adult schools and a computer club I am ready to semi- retire from this hobby but I will still look for new relatives who might respond to Map Quest at the top of my Web Page or sign my guest book. Interestingly, I got two Map Quest hits from "new" relatives last week.
It is my fervent desire that when I am gone many of you will pass my information down to your descendants. Don't forget you can tell them about Link One which is a database that can be searched, and Link Five which is a 300+ page Gillis/ Mac Donald Family History that I wrote. Back Issues of this newsletter are on my Web Page and they contain a lot of family info.
Finally, please keep in touch and be proud of our heritage.
